Beauty Blogger: Erica Fae

Ahoy!  Since school has started, I have been eating bowls of ramen and I have been taking after-school naps.  It has only been two weeks yet I have tons of crap to get done.  I will try to cool it with my ramen addiction but I don't know if I can say the same for the naps.  Anyway I found a beauty blogger I love! *Clap, Clap* So Very exciting!  Erica Fae is a really cool and inspiring person.  She has a bold and colorful style that draws you in.  I would definitely recommend checking out her tumblr: ERICA FAE

The Mitsuwa Marketplace

I have had a lazy summer of Netflix binging, annoying the crap out of my parents and spending way to much time on my tiny tower.  And I am proud of all of it.  But now that summer is ending I am getting flustered to do as many activities I can.  What I did yesterday was go to the Mitsuwa Marketplace in New Jersey. I loved it! I got multiple batches of fish waffles, went to the bookstore, supermarket and had FUN!
That's a happy fish!

Hehe.  Doesn't that look cute and inappropriate at the same time? hehe...... he........he.
What I bought there was a Popin Cook'n.  I spent my money right that day. I have been looking for a Popin Cook'n for a long time.  On Amazon it takes a month to ship to where I am.

It basically is a magical box containing candy powders you whip up to create cakes, hamburgers, ramen and many more creations. Here's a video.

Gustavo Lacerda

Flowers and Stripes

Today I was spray painting a swing green and my feet turned green. I must have inhaled the the green paint because now the inside of my nose is green too.  Moving on, I changed the look of my blog last night . The background is composed of star fruit. Is it too crazy? Let me know please! Anyway, I got a shirt/dress for $15. I say it was a good deal.  I also got some Ed Hardy sneakers with it at The Buffalo Exchange.

I read the label of the shirt and it says the brand is Zara. You can go check Zara out here.  That's a cool website.

I added a belt above but it doesn't need it.

No shoe laces on these shoes! Just slip on and go! Here is a website for Ed Hardy shoes. Speaking of shoes, I love these Y.R.U Qloud Athena platforms. Too bad I'm too poor to buy those bad boys.

I'm Mad about the Fashion: Archie Comics

Source

I have read the Archie comics forever and I used to have piles of comics everywhere.  Eventually I had to give them up but I am ready to collect again!  Archie sometimes gets on my nerves, just choose a lady and get your life to together. I wouldn't mind if he chose Veronica and Reggie was with Betty! But that is another story.  Also Oh my god did you ever hear Archie's voice from the 40s radio show?  But anyway I truly love all the characters. They will always be there for me hanging out at Pop Tate's Chocklit Shoppe.  I haven't read the Archie Comics in a long time but tonight I opened a comic and found GOLD.  I thought to myself, Wow I like the look of the fashion and so here I am!  I am going to be showing the GOLD I found from the Archie comics.

Veronica's Fashion:

Veronica's fashion is bold, spunky and fun.  She has to look good to go out on the town.  She knows how to rock headbands and is not afraid to mix colors.  That's pretty cool, Veronica.

Betty may not be rich like Veronica but she still knows how to dress.  Instead of headbands, she rocks  ponytails.

Golden Rum cake

Hey!, this is a how to make a rum cake! Hell YA
An Awesome cake for awesome people
This beautiful golden rum cake has the alcohol baked out so nobody is getting drunk unless you want to add the rum sauce (yeah there is a rum sauce for you) I would suggest you enjoy your cake with vanilla ice cream, nice combo. Alright! Let's get to work.

Get Ingredients!:

  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup Appleton Estate rum or Bacardi Gold rum
  • yellow cake mix
  • Bundt pan
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 large eggs
  • instant vanilla pudding mix

Rum Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup rum
  • stick of butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

The nuts are behind the sugar!

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.  Grease the pan and lightly flour it.  Chop the nuts and evenly cover the bottom of the pan .  Combine cake and vanilla pudding mix and add the eggs, canola oil, water and rum.   Mix until it becomes a batter.

I like it like that

OK, pour the the batter in the pan and lick the batter bowl. Bake for 60 minutes.  That was easy!

The Glaze: I would make the glaze while the cake cools since it is fast to make.  Bring the water, sugar and butter to a boil in a saucepan on medium heat.  Keep on for five minutes then remove the mixture and add rum.  Remove the cooled cake from the pan and pour on glaze.  Now eat it.

Santigold Rocks Gold!

Source: Pigeons and Planes

I have respected Santigold since listening to her music.  But after watching this interview, I love her even more.  Having a spotlight over her, she handles it by focusing on her work instead of trying to resemble a "perfect" image in the media.  I mean it is nice to know that she likes fart jokes!  I find her to be incredible, real and cute from just watching this interview.  She doesn't obsess over having a pop hit but that it is enjoyed and listened to by somebody.  I do like the collaborations, keep that thing going Santigold!  She has paired up with the Beastie Boys, Jay Z (well the song used a part of her song Shove it but that was a nice pairing) and M.I.A.  She is unique and herself and this makes me happy that she shows it off including in her music videos. I think is one cool lady. Here is her music video for Disparate Youth and also her song Pirate in the water.

Framing a Butterfly

Don't worry, this  butterfly died of natural causes

The Needed Supplies:
  • A shadow box (a display case for your beautiful butterfly)
  • pins
  • butterfly

I found a shadow box that was big so instead of just putting a butterfly I have added a few personal touches.  You first need to have a dried out butterfly.  After having my butterfly dry out, I stored it pinned in my freezer. Pin the butterfly in the thorax.  Pin the butterfly down on to the shadow box  and feel free to add what you want.  It is optional to  to add whatever you like!! Feel free to make your butterfly to live in a wonderful world.  If you find your butterfly dead with the wings not spread out, there are ways to open them.  What you need to do is rehydrate the butterfly.  Place damp paper towels at the bottom of a container and place the butterfly on top not touching the paper towel (you can place the butterfly on something hard over the paper towels) to moisten the body.  Also add Listerine to the mix to keep your butterfly from molding.  Leave the butterfly in the container for a few days then take it out holding the thorax and use tweezers to gently spread the wings.  Take the butterfly and pin the thorax to cardboard or styrofoam.  Cover the wings by taping wax paper around the wings.  Finally!, wait a week for it dry out in the placed position.
What I did was take a picture and covered the pin-able board (if your shadow box is not able to have pins placed inside, I would put styrofoam or cardboard inside that cover it) with the sketch.  I then placed the butterfly by pinning the thorax.  Some intriguing butterfly facts; Scales are on butterflies wings that reflect light giving its color.  Butterflies sometimes go puddling by drinking from mud puddles.  Here is the finished work!

Summer Buys

LOOk at what I got! It is crazy cool. Now what to where with it? I will let you know what I find soon!
This purse reminds me of the `DIY purse made on Rookie using a hardcover book.  You can make different versions of this type of purse. I think these purses are pretty awesome. Click the link to see how to make it: http://rookiemag.com/2012/03/its-a-book-its-a-bag/

I also went to Macy's this summer and found a lovely shirt and dress.  Is the dress too dressed up to wear as a casual dress?  I love the pop of the dress and the sheer white top.  I think I did pretty good for my summer buys! I'm feeling good to rock the purse and the dress together.  Now I just got to get a nice pair of shoes.

The Face Shop

Hydrating and clay masks
I enjoy going to the Faceshop.  I have sensitive skin that can burst into flames and my pores get clogged easily. The Faceshop is soothing on my skin and an added plus is that the packaging is pretty.  They offer a wide variety of masks including moisturizing masks and clay masks that unclog pores.  The clay masks don't go on thick and get cracked but instead stays as a thin firm film on the face.  They offer a variety of ones to choose from including a ginseng mask.  The individual masks are fun to play with since it is a packaged mask on a face cloth that makes you look like a serial killer when you wear it.  I have to also add that you get a lot of samples with your purchase (I always ask for samples).  I would definitely recommend you go to this beauty spot to get some nice masks!  They also sell other great products but get a mask!  Here is the website:  http://international.thefaceshop.com/index.jsp
I will suggest you get the non to go packaged masks since they last a long time.  I would use a mask once a week and not everyday for your face to breath but they really work to clean your pores.  I have realized the yellow mask up top contains primarily dead sea mud so if you are unable to get the yellow mask up top, you can purchase a dead sea mud mask.  The pink mask to the left is a hydrating mask that lasts a long way.  It stays in its original shape and to cover your face you only need a finger tip amount.  It is also a leave on mask that you can sleep with on and smells like grapefruits.   The customer service there is very good and the prices are pretty good! A lot of Face shop stores are in Korea (south-based skincare shop) but can be found in the New York chinatown areas. Let me know what you think or if you need help and if the website is helpful for purchasing what you want.

UNIQLO: The Little Band Dress

UNIOLO is my favorite store.  Instead of usually being exhausted by large stores I am excited by how flattering the clothes are that it almost's makes me blush.  The clothes are high quality and unique.  Plus the prices aren't that bad.  Well, this time at UNIQLO I got a little band dress.  It is comfy with pockets and nice n' cute.  It is different and cool and I love it.  I hope I don't wrinkle it very much though.

Follow Me: Pulp Fiction Style

Maybe I need to calm down.  And stop always worrying about whatever stupid thing is happening in my life.  Seriously, it is summertime. Maybe, just maybe I should follow some advice from Pulp Fiction.  I mean of course not fully. Think about it.  Don't give a damn about the petty jabs of life (after all I'm pretty sure they had other things to worry about),do a little twist on the dance floor and of course go get a Royale with cheese.  I am speaking for all of us and speaking out that we deserve an appropriately killing soundtrack if we are not gonna take the bullfrogs of the glorious fruits that life is gonna bring us.  Pulp Fiction is a classic.  The dialogue is humorous, dark and makes all of the characters lovable.  The soundtrack uses Quentin Tarantino's own classics including rock n roll, surf music and soul.  This is what we need: A slick rick outfit, nice soundtrack, some moves (like Napoleon Dynamite) and some spunk.  Come on, we need to get the job done, Pulp Fiction style.

Janelle Monáe is Winning the Love

Janelle Monáe is making me dance.  Her moves are wild and is not letting anyone stop her from hitting the floor.  She is one powerful woman. Monáe is influencing the politics of people, fashion and the world with her way of working it.  She respects people without a label but instead by who they are.  People have questioned what she was but instead she defies every label and runs with the androids.  Her parents were working class, earning their pay and raising Monáe to also work hard to earn what she wants to accomplish in life. I think we all could learn from the teaching of Janelle Monáe. "My message is that I want to reach the people - the people who work each and every day"

In her new music video for her album The Electric Lady, she entertains us with her hair down.

And now let us end with her being a queen. Janelle Monáe in one of my personal favorites, Queen featuring the powerful Erykah Badu.

Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing:City Folk is one of my favorite games. It is relaxing to play while other games can make me furious and then go crazy (I am terrible, I couldn't get past the first level of Super Mario Bros wii).  You can go fishing down by the river or to the ocean.  Invite over some buddies to mingle or bother your neighbors by stepping on their flowers or hitting them with your butterfly net. Holidays happen, tournaments and flea markets on sundays. My father and I used to go Animal Crossing fishing  on sundays all the time and plant coconuts. Man!, the game never gets old! I can go shopping, pay my mortgage, garden, fish, decorate, get my hair done and millions of things. I only used to use my wii to play Animal Crossing.  Unfortunately my wii broke and my Animal crossing town is gone now. But I have news!  Animal Crossing: New Leaf is coming out!
I don't know about this new Animal Crossing... I mean what are we going to do without the old turtle? Is Mortimer dead!! Animal Crossing:New Leaf is where you become mayor.  You are able to build houses, nice structures. http://www.animal-crossing.com/newleaf/  Here is the website, it looks very cute and I now say the music in New leaf is just as good as City Folk.  I have decided to put hope in New Leaf and I have a feeling that it wont disappoint me! Now the only minor problem is that I don't have a nintendo 3DS.  Is it really worth it?
Here is a look back on the  memories made in Animal Crossing:City Folk:

I remember saturdays at The Roost, Brewster would fix me up a cup of coffee with pigeon milk (fun fact: he collects gyroids) and then I would enjoy the fine music of K.K slider.

I love been mean to my Animal Crossing neighbors

Now here it is the Animal Crossing:New Leaf trailer for you:

Artist Worth Listening to: Pink Martini

The perfect music to hear as the weather gets warm.  This musical group calling themselves a "little orchestra", combines jazz, classical and latin together creating something that makes my heart dance and get in the mood for some sunny day.  Their music is spoken in multiple languages showing how lovely they are connecting internationally with their music. The cover art they have makes me realize how beautiful life can be, good for them being optimists!. This music calls for happier times for everyone who listens.

The sun has left and forgotten me
It's dark, I cannot see
Why does this rain pour down
I'm gonna drown
In a sea
Of deep confusion

Somebody told me, I don't know who
Whenever you are sad and blue
And you're feelin' all alone and left behind
Just take a look inside and you will find

You gotta hold on, hold on through the night
Hang on, things will be all right
Even when it's dark
And not a bit of sparkling
Sing-song sunshine from above
Spreading rays of sunny love

Just hang on, hang on to the vine
Stay on, soon you'll be divine
If you start to cry, look up to the sky
Something's coming up ahead
To turn your tears to dew instead

And so I hold on to his advice
When change is hard and not so nice
You listen to your heart the whole night through
Your sunny someday will come one day soon to you

Hang on Little Tomato!!!!

Anna Mae Wong

Anna Mae Wong (1905-1961) was the first recognized chinese-American actress of the world.  She faced discrimination but in her life acted in American,German and English films.  She worked in silent and sound films and starred in her own television show as a detective.  Bravo Anna.  She was a woman  acknowledged by her charm and talent.  She models how significant being a confident person will get you to the top. It did not matter that she was not a caucasian women but that she had talent and charisma that appealed to the public.

Anna Mae Wong

A PBS documentary was made to tell the life of Anna Mae Wong.  The documentary documented the challenges she faced and the stereotypes she did not go by during her stardom.  She was a lady with confidence and class. What amazes me is how she kept her dignity during a time of racism.  She did not fall into the hands of those who went against her acting career and was not confused on who she was as a person.  I feel what I am shouldn't be able to determine who I am or what I'm going to be.  Confidence and dignity are true traits that will work to a positive advantage.

Judy Garland, Anna Mae Wong, Mae West were actresses who caught the cameras eye with confidence and worked to the top.  At the age of 17, Anna Mae was starring in silent films and made it to surviving to sound films.  She starred in Shanghai Express, The Toll of the Sea ,The thief of Bagdad just to name a few.  Anna Mae Wong was an Asian American to rose to stardom despite difficulties and that makes her an important figure in my book.

Daughter of the Dragon 1931

MovieMention:Power of the Heads

The Trail Of The Screaming Forehead and the Coneheads are two great movies.  They are ridiculous, crazy, stupid and utterly fantastic. I was entertained by how quirky and fun they are to watch on those days where you have nothing to do or just want to indulge in one of those so stupid its funny kind of movie.

The Trail of the Screaming Foreheads is about a town, Longhead Bay, getting attacked by alien foreheads.  They attach onto the heads of victims and take control.
The movie makes fun of sci-fi movies from the 1950s and is filmed in a popping color.  The director Larry Blamire did a good job.  I give him a thumbs up.

Coneheads developed from the SNL sketches starring Dan Aykroyd.  It is just harmless fun to watch.
The story is about a alien family known as  the coneheads who get stuck on Earth.
Enjoy the suggested moronic movies.
